ABOUT XJTLU

In 2006 Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) was created by theUniversity of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong University – a top ten university in China. Offering a unique international educationexperience, XJTLU brings together excellent research practice and expertise from both institutions and gives students the skills andknowledge they need to secure careers in a global marketplace. XJTLU now has over 25,000 enrolled students in both Suzhou and Liverpool inthe UK, with plans to grow to about 28,000 students by 2025. There are currently about 2,000 staff, among which about 1,000 academic staff,with an almost even split between citizens of the People’s Republic of China and international passport holders. XJTLU offers ourundergraduates and postgraduates over 100 programmes with a diverse spectrum of courses.

XJTLU is entering a new and exciting phaseof its development as part of its strategic priorities for the next ten years. Adopting a new higher education model based on the concept ofSyntegrative Education (SE), XJTLU is currently opening a new Entrepreneurial Education site in Taicang, part of wider Suzhou, where theEntrepreneur College (Taicang) is located. The Taicang site will be a pioneer of, and educational model for, the future campus in addressingchallenges arising from the 4th Industrial Revolution. Other new initiatives include new working partnerships with Xi’an JiaotongUniversity, the continued development of the four new Academies, and exploration of further potential locations to develop the SE model.

With a focus on innovative learning and teaching, and research, XJTLU draws on the strengths of its parent universities, and plays apivotal role in facilitating access to China for UK and other institutional partners. At same time, XJTLU is exploring future education byblending the educational theory, best practice and culture from west and east.

ABOUT INTERNATIONALBUSINESS SCHOOL SUZHOU (IBSS)

International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University isgrowing in size and influence in pursuit of its vision to be a leading international business school. The five departments of IBSS are Accounting, Economics, Finance, Intelligent Operations and Marketing, and Strategic Management andOrganizations with over 170 faculty members and more than 6,000 students from over 60 different countries. IBSS delivers a range ofundergraduate, postgraduate, MBA, PhD and Executive Education programmes across all major business disciplines.The Department of Accountingbecomes an independent academic unit with the beginning of the 2020/21 academic year, as a result of splitting the original Department ofAccounting and Finance. At present, the Accounting Department has a team of 30 academic staff, publishing in high-quality internationalaccounting journals and also maintaining a balance of academic research and professional engagement. More than 80% of our accounting facultymembers are affiliated with at least one of the professional accounting bodies as follows: AICPA, UK CIMA/ICAEW/ACCA, CA/CPA Australia,CICPA/HKICPA. Members of the department mainly teach BA Accounting programme and MSc Professional Accounting programme, and also supportwidely many other business-related programmes. Our MSc Professional Accounting programme has received professional accreditation from ICAEW.BA Accounting programme has received professional accreditations from the ACCA, CIMA, CPA Australia and ICAEW. In addition, our BAAccounting students have been performing well in national/international competitions organized by professional accounting bodies: forexample, championship (2020) in CIMA GBC competition in North Asia region.

RESPONSIBILITIES ANDQUALIFICATION

Essential Qualifications/Experience

Successful applicants to the position ofTeaching Fellow are expected to have:

• A Master‚Äôs degree in accounting or a related field,
• A recognizedprofessional accounting qualification (ACCA/ACA/CPA etc.), 
• A teaching interest in auditing, and/or UK taxation and/or UKbusiness law,
• Two-year full time teaching experience in higher education.

Successful applicants to the position ofSenior Teaching Fellow are expected to have: 

• A Master‚Äôs degree in accounting or a related field,
• Arecognized professional accounting qualification (ACCA/ACA/CPA etc.), 
• A teaching interest in auditing, and/or UK taxationand/or UK business law,
• Five-year full time teaching experience in higher education.

DesirableQualifications/Experience

• Curriculum design and programme development experience,
• Public accounting workexperience,
• Active engagement with professional community.

CITIZENSHIP AND VISAREGULATIONS

Employment at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is regulated by Chinese Labour Laws, and must complywith the regulations of the provincial government. These regulations stipulate who is eligible for legal employment with regard to obtainingwork permits and visas. Please be advised candidates over 65 may be not eligible for a work visa in the P.R. China.
