1. Introduction to the Department

The School of Life Sciences at Peking University has a rich history, originating from the Department of Biology established in 1925, one of the earliest biology departments in China. In 1952, with the restructuring of higher education in China, the biology departments of Peking University, Yenching University, and Tsinghua University were merged to form the School of Life Sciences. Over the years, the school has expanded and established various fields of study such as biochemistry, biophysics, cell biology, microbiology, environmental biology, and more. The school now boasts 2 national key laboratories, 5 national key disciplines, 8 doctoral disciplines, and more than 70 research groups in 8 primary research directions, including biochemistry and molecular biology, genetics, neurobiology, and ecology.

• Independently carry out research in life sciences-related directions.
• Teach relevant courses and supervise graduate students.
• Qualifications:
• Age: Under 50 years old, with flexibility for exceptionally qualified candidates.
• Doctorate degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, biotechnology, biophysics, bioinformatics, zoology, botany, or related disciplines.
• High-level research achievements in the above interdisciplinary fields.
• Ability to independently apply for and lead national scientific research projects.
• Competency in teaching life science-related disciplines.
