Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor in Physics

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Sino-American Joint Institute seeks instructors for our Physics undergraduate courses. Titles range from Assistant to Full Teaching Professor, based on experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Teach undergraduate courses in English.
• Instruct 6 three-credit courses per academic year (324 class hours total).
• Responsibilities include holding office hours, grading, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), creating and grading exams and homework, and collaborating with faculty and staff on innovative teaching methods.
• Participate in institutional activities like curriculum development, committee service, and course evaluations.
• Optional research collaboration with faculty is encouraged.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Doctoral degree in Physics or a related field.
• Native-level English language proficiency; native speakers preferred.
• At least two years of post-doctoral or instructional experience.
• Commitment to teaching and willingness to reside in Hefei for several years, with consideration for a long-term role at the Joint Institute.
• Career progression in the "Teaching Professor" track (non-tenure).
• Experience in China or a personal connection to Chinese culture is advantageous.

SALARY RANGE

Annual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience with the range from $57,000-142,000 per year. 

• Assistant Professor: CNY 400-550K ( USD 57- 78.5K) per annum
• Associate Professor: CNY 550-700K ( USD 78.5K-100K) per annum
• Full Professor: CNY 750-1,000K ( USD 107K-142K) per annum

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS

• Competitive salary in the market.
• Chinese social security including standard medical insurance is provided. In addition, our team will provide support in accommodation, travel, children's education, medical treatment, and other aspects for international faculty.
• If the candidate is overseas, a round trip international Economy-class airfare will be covered (payable upon presentation of receipts and boarding pass) within one term of the contract.
• Reimbursement of airfare from Hefei to overseas is not applicable if you are to stay in China after the contract term.
