Job Description

1. Introduction to the Department

Founded in 2001, the School of Earth and Space Sciences at Peking University is comprised of several departments and institutes, including the Department of Geology, the Department of Geophysics, the Department of Solid Geophysics, the Department of Space Physics, the Institute of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems, and the Department of Urban and Environmental Studies. The university's geology department, established in 1909, is the first of its kind in China and is considered the cradle of geological science and education in the country. The college currently offers 5 undergraduate majors, 11 graduate majors, and 4 postdoctoral mobile stations. Additionally, it hosts multiple national and Beijing key disciplines, a national science talent training base for geology, and several key laboratories.

Teaching and Research Series

Job Responsibilities:

  • Engage in teaching and scientific research in the field of prehistoric life and environment.
  • Supervise graduate students and teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Carry out cutting-edge academic research and undertake major national scientific research projects and international cooperation tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Overseas young talents:
  • Under 35 years old.
  • Ph.D. in paleontology, biology, geobiology, or related disciplines.
  • Postdoctoral experience in overseas first-class universities or laboratories.
  • Influential academic achievements in the fields of the origin and evolution of life, systematics of important paleontological phyla, molecular paleontology, paleoecology, paleoenvironment, paleoclimate, and paleogeography.
  • Good team spirit with great development potential.
  • Ability to independently apply for and undertake national scientific research projects.
  • Potential to produce high-level research results with international impact and grow into academic leaders in the field.
  • Ability to undertake teaching tasks in paleontology, geohistory, stratigraphy, paleoenvironment, paleoecology, etc.
  • Potential backbone talents in China:
  • Under 48 years old.
  • Ph.D. in science with an international cooperation and exchange background.
  • Significant international academic influence and experience in applying for and undertaking national scientific research/talent projects.
  • Currently holding the position of associate senior or above in a domestic first-class teaching or research institution.
  • Ability to undertake teaching tasks in paleontology, geohistory, stratigraphy, paleoenvironment, paleoecology, etc.
