Job Description

1. Introduction to the Department

The School of Urban and Environmental Sciences takes geography as the main body, including ecology, environmental science, urban and rural planning, and other related disciplines, and has the comprehensive advantages of science, engineering, and literature. The college has two national first-level key disciplines: geography and physical geography and human geography. In 2011, Peking University established the first batch of first-level disciplines of ecology, and the Center for Ecology of Peking University, which was established in 2018, is affiliated with the School of Urban and Environmental Sciences. In 2017, the two disciplines of geography and ecology at Peking University were among the first to enter the ranks of national first-class disciplines. The college has the National Science Basic Science Talent Training Base of Geography, the Key Laboratory of Land Surface Process Analysis and Simulation of the Ministry of Education, and the Key Laboratory of Land Planning and Development of the Ministry of Land and Resources.

The School of Urban and Environmental Sciences consists of seven departments: the Department of Urban and Economic Geography, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, the Department of Physical Geography and Natural Resources, the Department of Ecology, the Department of Environmental Studies, the Institute of Historical Geography, and the Department of Information Geography. The school has an excellent academic team, which has presided over or participated in three innovative research group projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, such as "Environmental Biogeochemistry", "Spatiotemporal Pattern and Ecological Function of Terrestrial Vegetation in China", and "Ecological Health Risks of Regional Environmental Pollution."

A large number of leading talents such as Tao Shu, Fang Jingyun, and Pu Shilong are active in the fields of geography, resources, environment, ecology, and territorial spatial planning, promoting the innovative development of related disciplines and talent training, and making outstanding contributions to supporting major national strategies such as ecological civilization construction, "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality," as well as new urbanization and rural revitalization.

Qualifications (age, education, teaching, scientific research, etc.)

Major in Human Geography, Territorial Spatial Planning, Historical Geography, Cartography and GIS, Environmental Geography, Physical Geography. Ph.D., with a deep theoretical foundation and extensive professional knowledge, rich academic and practical experience, and the ability to successfully complete scientific research tasks. The candidate should have an excellent style of study, noble teacher ethics, excellent scientific research performance, and foreign language proficiency.
