The University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Senior Research Fellow in Power Electronics and Electric Drives in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Your Responsibility

The purpose of this role is to lead and deliver individual and collaborative research in the area of Power Electronics and Electric Drives, and contribute to the direction of research programmes in the Department. This post is also linked to research activities within the Faculty’s research platforms such as the Power Electronics, Machines and Control Research Group. The post holder will:

  • Lead, plan, develop and conduct individual and/or collaborative research objectives and projects.
  • Acquire, analyse, interpret and evaluate research findings using appropriate methodologies.
  • Establish a national reputation through peer-reviewed publications, conferences, and other media.
  • Generate income by developing and securing support for research proposals and funding bids.
  • Manage and apply appropriate research methodologies, and where necessary, develop new ones.
  • Communicate complex and conceptual ideas to both expert and non-expert audiences.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with internal and external contacts, nationally and internationally.
  • Manage research budgets and assets to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Resolve problems effectively to meet research objectives and deadlines.
  • Ensure safe conduct of work and compliance with University Safety Policy.
  • Participate in training and staff development as trainer or trainee.
  • Maintain ongoing professional development and awareness.
  • Undertake other reasonable tasks and responsibilities as required.

About You

  • PhD in a relevant subject area.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to devise and manage research programmes.
  • Resource management skills and understanding of management processes.
  • High level of analytical capability and creative thinking.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Depth of specialist knowledge sufficient to develop innovative research methodologies.
  • Experience in developing research methods and techniques.
  • Extensive research experience and national recognition in the field.
  • Track record of peer-reviewed journal publications.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering research outcomes.
