1. Introduction to the Department

The Center on Frontiers of Computing Studies at Peking University was established in December 2017. This prestigious center is co-directed by John Hopcroft, a Turing Award winner, the recipient of China's "Friendship Award," and a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, alongside Gao Wen, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Boya Chair Professor at Peking University. The center is also supported by 10 full-time faculty members and 4 visiting chair professors, including three Turing Award winners: Professor John Hopcroft of Cornell University, Professor Silvio Micali of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Professor Manuel Blum of Carnegie Mellon University.

Focusing on the frontiers of international computer science, the center engages in cutting-edge research in the intersection of computing theory, game theory, information theory, quantum information, cryptography, embodied computing, artificial intelligence, robotics, economics, art, and sports. It has developed strong partnerships with top universities and research institutions worldwide and has become a hub for world-class interdisciplinary computing science research.

The center fosters an open and dynamic academic environment that nurtures young faculty members into world-class scholars in computer science. It also offers the "Turing Talent Training Program," an initiative aimed at creating an international talent training mechanism to cultivate outstanding scholars who will lead technological development and industrial innovation in the future.

Job Series:

• Teaching and Research Series

Responsibilities:

• Teaching and scientific research in the field of computer science, with a focus on theoretical computing and cutting-edge computing methods, including large model intelligence.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. degree required.
• Applicants for assistant professor positions should generally be under 35 years old.
• Applicants for tenured associate professor positions should generally be under 40 years old.
• Applicants for professor positions should generally be under 50 years old. However, age requirements can be relaxed for exceptionally qualified candidates.
• Applicants for assistant professor or pre-appointed associate professor positions should have a Ph.D. degree or be close to completion and have relevant work or study experience at world-class academic institutions, with strong research achievements. Teaching experience is preferred.
• Applicants for tenured associate professor or professor positions should hold tenured or equivalent positions at renowned universities, research institutes, or internationally renowned companies, and must have a proven track record in research with world-class research levels and significant academic achievements.
• Research interests: Theoretical computers, cutting-edge computing methods, and large model intelligence.
