Job Description

Introduction to the Department

The Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies (AAIS) of Peking University was established in April 2006 and officially opened on the 4th of the same month. It is one of the pioneering platforms for interdisciplinary research in Chinese universities. Currently, AAIS hosts over 10 research institutions, including the Nanoscience and Technology Research Center, Biomedical Interdisciplinary Research Center, Quantitative Biology Center, Life Science Joint Center, Big Data Science Research Center, Magnetic Resonance Imaging Research Center, Brain Science and Brain-like Science Research Center, Sleep Medicine Research Center, Department of History of Science and Technology and Medicine, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Research Center, and the International Machine Learning Research Center. These centers cover a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary fields, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, and engineering.

The Center for Quantitative Biology (CQB), originally the Center for Theoretical Biology, was established in 2001 with the vision to combine Peking University's multidisciplinary advantages, focusing on quantitative systems biology. The center engages in a synergy of theoretical research and experimental technology to advance studies in synthetic biology, complex disease networks, and drug design.

The International Center for Machine Learning Research (ICMLR), established in 2022, aims to become a globally leading center for machine learning research, focused on both the theoretical and practical applications in materials science, chemistry, life sciences, physics, medicine, and engineering.

The Department of History of Science, Technology, and Medicine was founded in 2018 with a focus on the history of modern and contemporary science and medicine in China. It aims to become a leading institution for academic research and education in this field, with an international team dedicated to the history of science, technology, and medical knowledge in China and East Asia.
