Introduction to the Department

Founded in 2013, the Institute of Oceanography at Peking University serves as an interdisciplinary research platform. The Institute capitalizes on Peking University's broad academic disciplines, bringing together expertise from the humanities, social sciences, science and engineering, and medicine to conduct comprehensive marine research. The Institute's research covers a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Marine science (physical oceanography, marine chemistry, marine geology, marine biomedicine)
  • Marine engineering technology
  • Marine resources
  • Marine governance and law
  • Marine strategy and culture

By leveraging interdisciplinary collaboration, the Institute strives to contribute to the global understanding of oceanic processes, marine ecosystems, and the sustainable use of marine resources.

The Institute of Oceanography is currently recruiting for the following position:

1. Assistant Professor/Pre-Appointed Associate Professor/Tenured Associate Professor/Professor (Teaching and Research Series)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Undertake teaching and scientific research in the field of oceanography.
  • Supervise graduate students in their academic work.
  • Participate in and lead various scientific research projects related to oceanography.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements:A doctoral degree in a relevant field with postdoctoral research experience.
  • A deep theoretical foundation and extensive professional knowledge in oceanography.
  • Experience and Skills:Significant scientific research experience with a proven ability to independently complete teaching and research tasks.
  • Excellent academic record with research achievements recognized by domestic or international peers.
  • Strong academic ethics, excellent teaching performance, and proficiency in foreign languages.
  • Landmark research achievements that are acknowledged by the academic community.
