Introduction to the Department

The National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Analysis and Application Technology was established in 2017, approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. The laboratory aims to meet the national strategic needs in big data analysis and technology by establishing a comprehensive research environment and core team at Peking University.

The laboratory focuses on:

• Pre-processing and quality control of big data
• Computational mathematics and algorithms for big data
• Statistical methods and theories
• Large-scale machine learning methods
• Mining and analysis of heterogeneous multi-source big data
• Big data visualization
• Knowledge computing and decision support

Leveraging its team of experts in data science, machine learning, operations research, optimization, high-performance computing, and other related fields, the laboratory works on both theoretical research and industrial applications. It also contributes to the development of systems and standards for big data analysis and fosters collaborations with governmental and enterprise partners. The lab plays a key role in providing critical support for decision-making and innovation based on big data insights.

1. Research Associates/Associates/Researchers (Research Technology Series)

Job Responsibilities:

• Organize and/or participate in research projects related to big data, including fields such as data science, machine learning, statistics, high-performance computing, industrial engineering, and natural language processing.
• Contribute to research related to the application of big data in the humanities and social sciences.
• Engage in collaborative research efforts across diverse fields related to big data analysis.

• Associate Researchers: Applicants should be under the age of 45, have a doctorate in big data, and have achieved significant results in the field, with recognition from peers. They should be capable of undertaking research tasks and have the potential to develop into project leaders.
• Research Leaders: Applicants should be under the age of 45, with a doctorate in big data, recognized academic influence, and representative results in the field. They must have the leadership ability to undertake projects, manage research teams, and lead in big data research initiatives.
