1. Introduction to the Department

The School of Arts of Peking University was established on January 11, 2006, and its predecessor was the Department of Art of Peking University, which was established in April 1997. Founded in 1986, the Art Teaching and Research Department of Peking University not only undertakes professional courses in art disciplines but also offers public elective courses and platform courses for the whole university, and serves as the guidance and management of the Peking University Student Art Troupe.

In the previous first-level discipline evaluations of the Ministry of Education, the theoretical discipline of art of Peking University ranked first or was rated as A+, and was selected into the list of "double first-class" construction disciplines. The major of Art History was selected as the first batch of national first-class undergraduate majors, and the major of radio and television editing and directing was selected as the national first-class undergraduate major in 2021.

The School consists of five departments: the Department of Art Theory, the Department of Fine Arts, the Department of Drama and Film and Television, the Department of Music and Dance, and the Department of Creative Design and Arts Management. At the same time, the following research institutions are set up: the Institute of Cultural Industries of Peking University (National Research Base for Innovation and Development of Cultural Industries), the Literature and Art Criticism Base of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the National Foreign Cultural Exchange Base of the Ministry of Culture, the Film and Television Drama Research Center of Peking University, and the Kunqu Opera Inheritance and Research Center of Peking University (the Kunqu Opera Inheritance Base of the Ministry of Education), Peking University Center for Ethnic Music and Musical Theatre, Peking University Cao Xueqin Center for Aesthetic Art, and the Peking University Calligraphy Education and Research Center. The School also has a Peking University Digital Media Experimental Teaching Center (an experimental area for cultivating leading media innovative talents under the Ministry of Education) and is strongly supported by the Center for Aesthetics and Aesthetic Education of Peking University (a key research base of liberal arts of the Ministry of Education).

The college adheres to the goal inherited from Mr. Cai Yuanpei: to carry out aesthetic education to all college students, and to focus on cultivating senior talents in art research, art criticism, art education, and art management. It aims to cultivate professional artists with profound cultural accomplishments, compound art talents, and senior research talents in traditional Chinese art, contributing to the construction of a harmonious society and an innovative country through social-oriented art education, art criticism, and exploration and research in cultural industry, art science, and technology.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the teaching and research tasks in art (drama and film and television, creative design and art management, musicology, art theory, art history, etc.).

Qualifications:

1. Fields: Drama and Film Studies, Creative Design and Art Management, Musicology, Art Theory, Art History, etc.
2. Must have received a complete education in art and have a doctorate degree in art or related disciplines. Generally not more than 40 years old; those with senior professional titles and outstanding achievements can be relaxed to 55 years old.
3. Good conduct, rigorous style of study, good academic training, and excellent scientific research ability, in a leading position among scholars of the same age.
4. High level of foreign language proficiency and ability to teach relevant courses in English.
