Job Description

1. Introduction of the Department

The Computer Science major at Peking University has a history dating back to the 1950s, with roots in the Department of Mathematics and Mechanics, the Department of Computational Mathematics, and the Department of Physics, which focused on radio physics, electronic physics, and semiconductor physics. In 1978, the Department of Computer Science and Technology was officially established, offering two major tracks: Computer Software and Microelectronics. Following the establishment of the School of Information Science and Technology in 2002, the Department of Computer Science and Technology and the Department of Micro/Nano Electronics were set up, eventually leading to the formation of the School of Computer Science in 2021.

The School of Computer Science offers two national key disciplines in the double first-class construction program: Computer Science and Technology and Software Engineering. The school also offers four undergraduate programs: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Data Science and Big Data Technology, and Information and Computing Science (Strong Foundation Program). Graduate programs include Computer System Architecture, Computer Software and Theory, and Computer Application Technology, each with specialized sub-disciplines.

The School houses several prominent research centers, including the National Engineering Research Center for Video and Visual Technology and numerous key laboratories supported by the Ministry of Education.

Research areas at the School cover a broad spectrum of computer science, including computer theory, system software, knowledge engineering, programming languages, information security, computer graphics, human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, multimedia communication, and more. The school is a global leader in many of these fields.

Furthermore, the school maintains strong academic collaborations with leading institutions worldwide, such as MIT, Carnegie Mellon, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and University of Tokyo, and partners with industry giants like IBM China, Microsoft Asia, Huawei, Tencent, and Baidu. These partnerships provide students with numerous opportunities for exchanges, internships, and participation in global competitions.

National Key Laboratories:

  1. National Key Laboratory of Multimedia Information Processing: This laboratory, established in 2022, is a leader in multilingual and multimedia information processing, intelligent models, and high-real-time multimodal interaction for cyberspace. It focuses on cutting-edge research to support the digital Belt and Road initiative and the metaverse.
  2. Shuanghu Laboratory: A collaborative lab between Peking University and the Army Armored Forces College, focusing on parallel scene computing, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence. The laboratory is engaged in critical national research, contributing to international frontier exploration and national needs in fields like physical simulation, graphic image vision, and virtual simulation.
