Job Description

1. Introduction to the Department

Peking University is one of the earliest institutions in China to engage in environmental teaching and scientific research. Over more than 50 years of rapid development, the university has established a dominant position in the domestic environmental field, and its discipline construction is ranked among the world’s leading environmental disciplines. Peking University's Environment/Ecology discipline ranks in the top 0.1‰ globally in the ESI and 15th in the world in QS rankings.

The College has built a full-chain environmental discipline system encompassing "science-engineering-health-management." The following four leading research directions have been established:

  • Atmospheric compound pollution and regional joint control
  • Water pollution control and comprehensive watershed management
  • Environmental pollution and human health
  • Environmental management and global environmental governance

The college has made significant contributions by proposing groundbreaking scientific concepts and theoretical frameworks, such as:

  • "Atmospheric compound pollution"
  • "River total material flux"
  • "Environmental civilization"

These frameworks have been internationally recognized and have played a key role in solving major environmental problems in China and leading international environmental compliance. The College has developed a capable, internationally influential teaching team, consisting mainly of young and middle-aged scholars, including:

  • 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
