1. Introduction to the Department

The School of Future Technology at Peking University was established on September 23, 2020 in response to the strategic vision set forth by General Secretary Xi Jinping's "Four Insistence Orientations" and to address the profound changes currently shaping the world. The School is a second-level teaching and research entity at Peking University, comprising one school, two departments, and one center:

• Institute of Molecular Medicine
• Department of Biomedical Engineering
• National Center for Biomedical Imaging Science
• Department of Big Data and Biomedical Artificial Intelligence

The School integrates talent from these diverse centers to focus on the future life and health technology sector, aiming to establish an integrated training system combining production, education, and research. The School's mission is to lead world-class scientific research innovation and talent training, contributing to the technological revolution and serving as the cradle of industry leaders in the future.

With an interdisciplinary approach, the School will focus on the cutting-edge fields of biomedical engineering and molecular medicine, breaking traditional disciplinary boundaries. The School will also promote cross-border collaboration and contribute to the "new engineering" development at Peking University.

The School will offer a comprehensive talent training system across postdoctoral fellows, doctors, professional doctors, masters, and undergraduates. It will strengthen students' skills in thinking innovation, theoretical learning, and engineering practice at three levels: vision, ability, and knowledge.

Teaching and Research Series

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate an independent research laboratory as a Principal Investigator (PI).
• Lead national scientific research projects and guide graduate students.
• Undertake teaching responsibilities within the School.

Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in relevant fields such as molecular medicine, biomedical imaging, biomedical engineering, big data, or biomedical artificial intelligence.
• Age: Generally not more than 45 years old (exceptional talents may be considered beyond this age limit).
• Proven academic reputation or significant potential for development in the subject area.
• Competence in teaching related tasks.

Research Associates / Associates / Researchers

Research Technology Series

Type 1: Co-PI, assist PI in running the laboratory, including carrying out research projects, guiding graduate students, and managing daily laboratory operations.

Type 2: Researchers in large project teams, participating in scientific research projects and assisting in supervising graduate students.

Qualifications:

• Doctoral students are generally not more than 45 years old.
• Relevant background in biology, medicine, optical imaging, big data, and artificial intelligence.
• Strong sense of responsibility, collaborative spirit, and scientific research and innovation abilities.

Instructional Series

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for undergraduate and graduate teaching tasks, including teaching professional basic courses, conducting teaching research, preparing teaching materials, and supervising young faculty members.

Qualifications:

• Doctoral students are generally not more than 40 years old.
• Relevant background in life sciences, molecular medicine, biomedicine, bioinformatics, or related fields.
• Experience in undergraduate or graduate program teaching and instructional management.

Research Technology Series

Job Responsibilities:

• Engage in significant basic scientific research projects.
• Conduct independent research and apply for national scientific research projects and talent projects.
• Assist PI in supervising graduate students and completing project summaries and reports.

Qualifications:

• Doctoral students are generally not more than 40 years old.
• Candidates should meet one of the following conditions:

1. Life sciences: Research foundation in aging, immunity, or metabolism. Cutting-edge biotechnology expertise is preferred.
2. Big data and artificial intelligence: Interest in exploring the application of big data and artificial intelligence in life sciences.

3. Application Materials

For candidates applying for a tenured position (Professor/Tenured Associate Professor) in the Teaching and Research Series, a peer review based on tenure assessment will be conducted. For those applying for the Associate Researcher position or above in the Research Technology Series, or the Associate Professor position or above in the Instructional Series, peer expert reviews will also be conducted according to the promotion requirements.
