Wenzhou-Kean University
Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU), located in Wenzhou, China, is one of three Sino-American universities along with NYU Shanghai and Duke Kunshan University. Approved by the Ministry of Education of China, WKU was launched in 2012 in partnership with Kean University, a comprehensive public university in New Jersey accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Wenzhou is one of the most vibrant and economically advanced cities on China's East Coast, located one hour by plane and three hours by high-speed train from Shanghai.
WKU sits on approximately 500 beautiful acres and currently enrolls about 5,100 undergraduate students, with plans to grow enrollment to 7,000 students within the next three years. All instruction is in English, and all curriculum is provided by Kean University.
In addition to its 18 undergraduate programs, WKU has been approved by the Ministry of Education to offer 8 Master's and 3 doctorate programs. About the Job:
The College of Science and Technology is seeking highly motivated individuals to join the biology department at WKU.
All faculty positions are full-time assignments, effective for the start of the 2025 Spring or Fall semester. These positions are appointed on a renewable 3-year contract basis.
Tenure-track Assistant Professor positions require a PhD in anatomy, organismal biology, cell biology, pharmacology, or related disciplines from reputable universities, including Carnegie R1 institutions or equivalent research institutions.
Tenure-track candidates should have a strong publication record and be prepared to lead their research groups independently. These faculty will teach 24 credits per academic year, conduct research, and provide service to the university and professional community. Six credits of teaching release time will be granted annually for the first three years to support research grant development. The university offers start-up grants (up to 300,000 RMB) and additional internal research funding (up to 300,000 RMB per project), along with external funding opportunities.
Bioinformatics expertise and/or experience in the biomedical field is desirable to support two platforms: Zhejiang Province Bioinformatics International Science and Technology Collaboration Center and the Key Lab of Applied Biomedical Informatics of Wenzhou City, housed at WKU.
Teaching Responsibilities:
Faculty may be assigned to teach day, evening, and online courses. Experience with advanced instructional technologies is highly desirable. General Education teaching may also be required.
