Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU), located in Wenzhou, China, one of three Sino-American universities along with NYUShanghai and Duke Kunshan University, is approved by the Ministry of Education of China. Launched in 2012, WKU offers a unique model ofhigher education in partnership with Kean University, a comprehensive, public university in the state of New Jersey that is accredited bythe Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The College of Business and Public Management is an AACSB-accredited business school.Wenzhou is one of the most vibrant and economically advanced developed cities on China's East Coast, located one hour by plane and threehours by high-speed train from Shanghai.
WKU sits on approximately 500 beautiful acres and currently enrolls about 5,100undergraduate students, and it is now in the midst of a rapid growth that will bring enrollment to 7,000 students within the next threeyears. All instruction is in English and all curriculum is provided by Kean University.
In addition to its current 18 undergraduateprograms, WKU has been approved by the Ministry of Education for offering 8 Master's and 3 doctorate programs. About the Job:
The Learning English for Academic Purposes(LEAP) department in the College of Liberal Arts at WKU seeks to fill multiple lecturer positions to teach a two-part series of first-yearcomposition courses for EFL learners. We particularly seek candidates with expertise and experience in teaching developmental and/or basicwriting to EFL learners. A focus on service learning and/or community engagement is additionally desirable.
A Lecturer at WKU is afull-time, 11-month employee who teaches 39 credits per year and provides student and learning support services during the assigned period.Lecturers will be expected to provide high-quality teaching, engage in university and/or professional community-related service, and performother related work as required.
Teaching experience with non-native speakers in a foreign country is highly desirable. Teachingassignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, and online courses. Interest or experience in using advancedinstructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable.
All faculty positions are full-timeassignments, effective for the start of the Fall 2025 semester. These positions are full-time assignments appointed on a 3-year contract atthe first instance.
Faculty positions at WKU offer:
The annual lecturer salary is commensurate withqualifications and experience and ranges from $58,000 to $68,000. A well-rounded healthcare coverage, academic travel up to $2,000, housingoptions and subsidy up to $3,000, home traveling up to $6,000 (2 international round-trip airfares), a reimbursement to cover relocationexpenses up to $1,000, shuttle bus to campus for work, and up to 8% front-load retirement benefits within accordance with completion ofyears of service with the University. Three-year initial contract. WKU tuition waiver up to 50% for spouse/dependent children of faculty forundergraduate programs. Tuition discount of private/international kindergarten, elementary, middle and high schools for children of faculty.A collegial environment. The opportunity to teach high-quality students. About 50% of graduates have been admitted to graduate schools atthe World's Top 50 Universities, and about 60% of graduates at the World's Top 100 Universities.

Qualifications:
M.A. or Ph.D.in English or rhetoric and composition is required for the composition lecturer positions. Ph.D. is preferred. A minimum of two years ofteaching or related experience in a college or university setting is preferred. We especially seek 1) candidates with experience andexpertise in teaching developmental and/or basic writing to EFL learners and 2) candidates with expertise and experience in service learningand/or community engagement. Native English speakers are preferred.
