About the University

Zhejiang Yuexiu University is a full-time undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education of China. Located in the historically and culturally rich city of Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, the university benefits from an advantageous geographical location. It is only 1.5 hours by train from Shanghai and approximately 40 minutes by car from Hangzhou International Airport. The university operates two campuses—Jishan and Jinghu—located about 25 minutes apart by car.

The university offers 51 undergraduate programs across six disciplines: literature, engineering, economics, management, arts, and education.

It is the leading institution in Zhejiang Province in terms of foreign language offerings, with courses in 17 languages: English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Indonesian, Thai, Czech, Turkish, Polish, Persian, and Hindi. The university boasts robust resources and a strong reputation in foreign language education. Currently, over 100 international faculty members from countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea, and Japan are teaching on campus.

Basic Recruitment Requirements and Conditions

• Applicants must comply with the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, be in good health, and have no criminal record.
• Foreign teachers involved in language teaching should, in principle, teach their native language and possess at least a bachelor’s degree or higher from a university in their home country. They should also have:
  • A minimum of two years of teaching experience, or
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in education, language, or teaching disciplines, or
  • A teaching qualification from their home country, or
  • A recognized international language TEFL certificate.
• Foreign teachers engaged in non-language professional courses must hold a master’s degree or higher and have relevant professional and industry backgrounds and work experience. (Note: Professionals whose native language is not English must provide a relevant language teaching certificate.)
• Applicants should be under the age of 60, but age restrictions may be relaxed for candidates who meet Class A talent requirements.
• Applicants with previous teaching experience in China must meet the following conditions:
  • Compliance with the management of the original institution during their employment
  • No malicious resignation history
• Applicants must not have personality defects, bad habits, or illnesses that would be unsuitable for teaching.

Specific Conditions and Requirements for Applicants

• Native English speakers with a bachelor’s degree or higher in literature, education, linguistics, or relevant work experience.

Workload and Salary Benefits

• Teaching Hours: Each foreign teacher is required to teach 16 classes per week. Additional teaching hours beyond the stipulated requirement will be compensated separately.
• Salary: The salary package includes a monthly salary, meal allowance, airfare reimbursement, and seniority allowance. Salary standards are determined based on the teacher’s professional technical position or educational qualifications. Those who achieve academic outcomes may receive additional rewards according to relevant regulations.
• Accommodation: The university provides free apartments for teachers, equipped with basic furniture and appliances.
• Insurance: The school will purchase commercial insurance for foreign teachers as required.
• Holidays: Foreign teachers are entitled to public holidays in China as per school regulations, along with winter and summer vacations.
• Foreign Teacher Community: Activities for foreign teachers include Chinese language classes, calligraphy lessons, and short-term travel as team-building events.

Note: Foreign teachers with outstanding research achievements may negotiate their salary package with our university.
