Lecturer in Cyber Security

The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) is seeking an enthusiastic academic with a relevant undergraduate degree and a doctoral qualification (or near completion) to contribute to delivering an outstanding, research-informed student experience. The successful candidate will be actively involved in curriculum design, teaching, assessment, and educational research, with a strong understanding of contemporary pedagogies such as co-creation and active learning. Experience with digital education and online learning environments is essential, along with a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and high professional standards. The postholder will design and deliver high-quality teaching in Cyber Security, covering areas such as Network Security, Cloud Computing, Digital Forensics, and Ethical Hacking. Responsibilities include module coordination, assessment, programme development, and participation in quality enhancement initiatives. They will maintain scholarly activity to ensure teaching is research-informed, supervise research students, and contribute to enterprise activities including CPD and consultancy. The role is ideal for someone passionate about shaping the future of computing education and research in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.

• BEng (Hons) in Engineering Management
• BSc (Hons) in Web and Mobile Development

The post holder will reside in China teaching in the Scotland Academy on behalf of the University of the West of Scotland.

The successful candidate should have the following:

• An undergraduate qualification in Cyber Security or a related subject area
• A PhD in a relevant area
• Evidence of experience of learning, teaching and assessment in higher education
• Evidence of knowledge and understanding of contemporary pedagogies
• Evidence of a published research profile commensurate with career stage
• Evidence of experience in module/programme administration
• Evidence of experience in designing and delivering co-creative and active learning and assessment
• Evidence of familiarity with online learning environments and the principles of digital education

About Wuxi Taihu University

Wuxi Taihu University is a full-time, multidisciplinary, application-oriented undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education, located in Wuxi urban area, within a national forest park. The campus covers an area of 2,000 acres, with more than 25,000 teachers and students, known as the "university in the garden." It is adjacent to Shanghai, offering convenient transportation and beautiful scenery. Remuneration Package

• Salary Range: £50,253 – £56,535 (initial placement likely at the starting point, subject to experience)
• £5,000 International Teaching Payment granted upon successful completion of probation
• Expatriate Benefits: relocation allowance, housing allowance, medical insurance, medical allowance, and allowance for personal laptop use
