Position Overview

Organization: Biomedical Pioneering Innovation Center (BIOPIC), Peking University

Location: Beijing, China

Introduction to the Department

The Biomedical Pioneering Innovation Center (BIOPIC), established in 2010 and formerly known as the Center for Biological Dynamic Optical Imaging, is an independent research institute directly under Peking University. BIOPIC stands as a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary center focused on life science research, with a strong technological core. It aims to bridge basic scientific discoveries and biomedical applications, serving human health through the development of high-precision technologies.

BIOPIC has consistently led cutting-edge research, achieving world-class breakthroughs such as MALBAC baby, neutralizing antibodies for the new coronavirus, circular RNA vaccines, single-base editing technology (LEAPER), and high-performance protein structure prediction tools. Its research spans areas including reproductive health, gene editing, artificial intelligence, cancer diagnosis, and more.

BIOPIC also hosts the Beijing Future Gene Diagnosis Advanced Innovation Center (ICG), which has received significant support from the Beijing Municipal Education Commission since 2016. The center has fostered rapid development, resulting in seven high-tech enterprises and creating an integrated model for research, education, and industrial production.

The center's primary research directions include:

  • Basic Research: Genomics, bioinformatics, tumor immunology, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, computational systems biology, brain science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
  • Technology Development: Single-cell genomics, gene editing, high-throughput sequencing, biomedical imaging, biological big data analysis, and microfluidic technologies.
  • Clinical Translation: Genetic testing, preimplantation embryo screening, cancer immunotherapy, gene editing interventions, and biological big data.
