Overview:Duke Kunshan University (DKU) is a Sino-US Joint Venture University approved by the Ministry of Education and co-founded by Duke University, Wuhan University and Kunshan City Government. DKU is a non-profit public welfare social organization with independent legal status. The campus is located in Kunshan Yangcheng Lake Science Park, Jiangsu Province, about 30km from Shanghai. DKU seeks to appoint a lab instructor in statistics for its interdisciplinary undergraduate program. Working closely with course instructors, the lab instructor will provide comprehensive support for the teaching of introductory statistics courses, that have a social science focus. Compensation is internationally competitive and commensurate with experience and education background. DKU offers a series of graduate degree programs and launches its undergraduate degree program in 2018. Our campus provides an innovative, interdisciplinary undergraduate liberal arts experience to a student body that will number 2000 students and 150+ faculty, with a student body represented by over 60 countries. The Instructors for Teaching Labs will play an important role in delivering integrated and interdisciplinary teaching for the new UG program. 

Reports to: Chair, Division of Social Sciences of Undergraduate Program

Essential Duties:

1. Support statistics courses under supervision of the course instructors, in particular the course STATS 101.

2. Teach problem-solving and coding within the context of the course.

3. Assist in grading course assignments when requested.

4. Familiarity with R is a requirement, experience using Quarto a plus.

5. Perform other duties as assigned.

6. University employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows and complexity in its programs. 

Required Qualifications:

1. Candidates must hold a M.S. or Ph.D. Degree in social sciences (e.g. sociology, psychology, economics or political science).

2. At least 1-2 years' teaching experience in higher education is preferred. Excellent fresh graduate will be considered; experiences as TA will be highly preferred.

3. Willing to work in a multidisciplinary and intercultural environment.

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are desirable.

5. Good organizational skills, punctuality and knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, and procedures.

6. Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
