Position Summary

The Department of Special Education seeks Assistant or Associate Professors in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for tenure-track positions starting Fall 2026 (August 16). Contracts are 3 years, renewable upon review.

  • Teaching load: 24 credits annually, with 6-credit release for first 3 years
  • Research support: Start-up grant up to 80,000 RMB; eligibility for external/internal funding
  • Responsibilities: Teaching, research, advising, curriculum development, program assessment, recruitment, and collaboration
  • Assignments may include day, evening, and weekend classes

Key Position Responsibilities

  • Teaching and Learning: Deliver postgraduate-level courses in ABA and Autism; design and update course materials.
  • Research and Scholarship: Conduct independent/collaborative research; publish in peer-reviewed journals; apply for grants.
  • Graduate Supervision and Advising: Supervise dissertations, research design, data analysis, and practicum placements.
  • Program and Institutional Service: Participate in committees; support recruitment and partnerships.
  • Professional Engagement: Maintain memberships; foster collaboration with local and international institutions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $68,000–$75,000 (Assistant Professor); $73,000–$83,000 (Associate Professor)

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in ABA, Behavior Management, or Special Education (Behavior Analysis specialization)
  • BCBA-D or BCBA certification with formal ABA training
  • Minimum 2 years academic teaching experience in ABA
  • Active research agenda with publications in SCI, SSCI, or Scopus-indexed journals
  • Experience with educational technologies; AI in education is a plus
  • Ability to supervise graduate students in research and practicum settings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of successful grant acquisition
  • International collaboration or cross-cultural teaching/research experience
  • Commitment to inclusive education and evidence-based ABA interventions
  • Ph.D. from Carnegie R1 or equivalent research institutions
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
