Job Description

1. Introduction to the Department

The Center for Quantum Materials Science was established in 2010 with condensed matter physics and quantum materials science as its main research areas. At present, according to the research methods, the center is divided into six parts: low-temperature and quantum transport experiments, spectroscopy and high-resolution detection experiments, spin and low-dimensional magnetic experiments, AMO experimental and precision measurement, condensed matter physics theory, and condensed matter physics calculation. Specific research interests include: quantum Hall effect, topological effect in condensed matter physics, correlated electron phenomena, quantum behavior in low-dimensional electron gases, spintronics, physical properties of heterostructures, mesoscopic superconductivity phenomena, advanced scanning probe microscopy, neutron and photon scattering spectroscopy, surface dynamics, ultrafast dynamics experiments of nanomaterials and devices, ultra-cold atomic gases, materials physics under ultra-high pressure, water properties, soft matter materials, and other frontiers of condensed matter physics.

At present, the center has a total of 20 independent laboratories, a public laboratory for physical property characterization, and a public experimental platform for nano and microfabrication. In addition, Peking University also relies on the center to build the Cui Qi Laboratory of Peking University and the Liquid Helium Center of Peking University.

The Center for Quantum Materials Science has preliminarily built an excellent platform in the fields of condensed matter physics and quantum materials science, and has shown excellent performance in the research of synthesis, transport properties, spectroscopic properties of materials, as well as the electronic structure of materials. Some of the achievements have reached the international leading level.
