“Integrating various artificial intelligence technologies to create instant and effective virtual counsellors to help more people get unstuck”

Mental disorders and mental illness have become a major concern for global public health agencies. Scientists and entrepreneurs around the world are racing to find effective and scalable solutions.

With the help of AI, Dr. Zhenzhong Lan attempts to address this problem in a unique way, including building a virtual psychological counselor that can provide immediate, effective, low-cost and scalable counseling services by integrating various AI technologies.

Under the leadership of Dr. Zhenzhong Lan, the lab has launched an AI robot "Xiaotian" to assist in psychological counselling, mainly for public interest counselling, providing free dialogue counselling services to online visitors.

At present, Xiaotian has provided free psychological counselling to more than 10,000 users, and the number continues to grow.

Job Description

Position: Postdoctoral Fellow (3 positions)

Requirements:

• Ability to conduct independent research in deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, or other related science and technology areas (e.g. physics, chemistry);
• Or be able to investigate the application of deep learning to protein-related problems such as protein structure prediction, protein design, and other related topics;
• Good foundation in programming;
• Good research background.

Other requirements:

• Have obtained or about to obtain a Ph.D. degree, aged under 35;
• Have some research results or working background in the relevant field.

Compensation and Benefits

The research team offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. Applications for relevant projects and programs will be encouraged and supported.

• Postdocs selected for China Postdoctoral Science Foundation or Zhejiang Province Selected Funding for Postdoctoral Research Projects will be entitled to further receive a supporting fund of the same amount from the Hangzhou municipal government.
• Postdocs who work in Hangzhou on a full-time basis after completing their postdoctoral research will be eligible for applying an allowance of 400,000 RMB from the Hangzhou municipal government.
