Founded in June 2022, HKUST (GZ) is located in Nansha, Guangzhou, the geometric center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is perfectly placed for geographical convenience and forms part of an axis for technological progress. They call it the new Silicon Valley of the East.

HKUST(GZ) boasts cutting-edge research facilities tailored to meet the needs of our investigating scientists in various disciplines. HKUST(GZ) is a spin-off from the world-class HKUST. The HKUST(GZ) community will consist of 800 faculty members, 4000 undergraduates and 6000 postgraduates.

About AI Thrust, Information Hub

AI Thrust (https://ait.hkust-gz.edu.cn/), under Information Hub, is an academic department dedicated to both theoretical and applied research in AI and Machine Learning. Research areas include but are not limited to machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, robotics, reinforcement learning, data science, and multiagent systems. It now invites applications for multiple tenure-track and tenured faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor). We are committed to fostering research that is world-leading in originality, significance, and rigor, while developing researchers with robust professional skills, interdisciplinary abilities, and global perspectives.

Our esteemed faculty actively engages in promoting interdisciplinary research, aiming to establish an AI research and innovation ecosystem that is rooted in the Greater Bay Area and has an international scope, carrying the HKUST brand.

Expectant Faculty:

• Conduct world-leading research on various fields within AI;
• Responsible for mentoring students and other community services as required;
• Contribute to the University’s education reform and the establishment of an innovative talent cultivation model across the University;
• Contribute to the establishment of the University’s education policy, including teaching and learning assessment, teaching and learning quality assurance, etc.;
• Contribute to promoting innovative teaching methods, including blended learning, flip classroom, etc.

Qualification of Candidates

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in AI or related fields:

• Assistant Professor (Tenure-track): Exceptional research and teaching potential with top-tier publications and high-impact research work.
• Associate Professor: Consistent record of high-impact, world-leading research, excellence in teaching and supervision, and substantial external funding as principal investigator.
• Full Professor: World-renowned in their field with seminal contributions, sustained excellence in research and teaching, and demonstrated academic leadership, including large-scale grant management and international roles.
