The Institute of Archaeology, Museums and Chinese Civilization of Nanjing University is recruiting Assistant Professor or Associate Professor.
About the School
The History discipline of Nanjing University traces its roots to 1902 with the establishment of the National History Department of Sanjiang Normal School. In 1952, following national departmental restructuring, the History College of Central University, the Frontier Politics Department, and the History Department of Jinling University were integrated to form the current History Department. Nanjing University now boasts three first-level disciplines—Chinese History, World History, and Archaeology—each highly ranked in national evaluations. The department is recognized for its longstanding academic tradition, distinguished faculty, and comprehensive talent development programs at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels.
The newly established Institute of Archaeology, Museums and Chinese Civilization at Nanjing University’s Suzhou Campus is a forward-looking research hub. The institute focuses on key areas in Chinese archaeology and aims to advance multidisciplinary research by integrating field excavation, scientific archaeology, digital technology, and visual analysis. Dedicated to supporting national strategies and regional development, the institute is committed to developing the “New Liberal Arts” in archaeology, museology, and cultural heritage studies while cultivating interdisciplinary and application-oriented talents. It also strives to enhance Nanjing University Suzhou Campus’s global academic influence.

Qualifications
- A commitment to academic teaching and research in line with national laws and university regulations.
- High standards of professional ethics and conduct, with no history of criminal or academic misconduct.
- A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, with strong academic training and a track record of excellence in reputable institutions.
- For Assistant Professor roles: generally, at least two years of postdoctoral experience.
- For Associate Professor roles: generally, at least four years of postdoctoral experience.
- Proven teaching ability, including experience with modern teaching methodologies and excellent communication skills.
- A solid publication record and strong research potential, with clear academic goals and international academic visibility.
