Associate Research Fellow in Multilingual Education

Purpose of role

The purpose of this role will be to support the principal investigator and their research teams in conducting and disseminating research and developing new research proposals in the area of intercultural and multilingual education. The post holder will also be expected to undertake independent research as well as work as part of a team, using appropriate methodologies and techniques. They will be responsible for writing up their work to contribute to published outcomes.

The role holder will have the opportunity to use their initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods, and extend their research portfolio.

Your Responsibility

• To undertake all tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required by the principal investigator.
• To plan and conduct research using recognised approaches, methodologies, and techniques within the research area and support the development of research objectives and proposals.
• To analyse and illuminate data, interpret reports, evaluate and critique texts, and bring new insights to the research area.
• To contribute to writing up research findings for publication in leading journals.
• To assist with preparation of proposals and applications for funding or accreditation.
• To build internal and/or external contacts to develop knowledge and understanding for future collaborations.
• To coordinate research networks, arrange meetings, and update websites.
• To collaborate with academic colleagues on course development or joint research projects.
• To participate in training and staff development events.
• To maintain appropriate professional development and expertise.

About You

Essential

• Earned PhD in a relevant subject area
• Solid knowledge in multilingual education and intercultural communication
• Evidence of using a range of research methodologies and techniques
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese
• Developing research skills with the ability to creatively apply relevant research approaches
• Ability to contribute to method improvement
• Analytical ability to interpret both qualitative and quantitative data
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate internally and externally

Desirable

• Ability to assess and organise resource requirements effectively
• Ability to foster a research culture and learn from others
• Experience developing new research approaches, models, or techniques
• Some publications in relevant research areas
• Relevant work experience
