University Overview

In 2006, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) was created by the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong University – a top ten university in China. Offering a unique international education experience, XJTLU brings together excellent research practice and expertise from both institutions and gives students the skills and knowledge they need to secure careers in a global marketplace. XJTLU now has around 25,000 enrolled students in both Suzhou and Liverpool in the UK, with plans to grow to about 28,000 students by 2025. There are currently about 2,000 staff, with around 1,000 academic staff, almost evenly split between Chinese and international passport holders. XJTLU offers over 100 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Entrepreneur College (Taicang) Overview

In 2019, XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) was launched to develop talents and leaders to meet global challenges from the 4th Industrial Revolution. The college, developed with the Taicang Municipal Government and industry partners, moved to its new award-winning campus in September 2022.

AIAC School Overview

The School of AI and Advanced Computing (AIAC) is one of 7 industry-themed schools in the Entrepreneur College. Each school has an Education, Research and Development Institute (ERDI), a services centre, and a school-affiliated company with industry partners.

AIAC collaborates closely with industry to develop applied AI solutions and commercial research. Students gain a solid foundation in AI, practical technology experience, and entrepreneurial skills.

Responsibilities and Duties

We are seeking colleagues in all areas of AI and computing who can:

• Conduct high-quality research with industry/government impact.
• Deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate teaching.
• Engage with innovative, tech-enhanced learning models.
• Embody an entrepreneurial spirit aligned with college ethos.
• Ensure inclusive, industry-aligned curriculum design.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dean or ERDI Director.

Essential Qualifications/Experience

• PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, etc. (PgCert HE desirable).
• University-level teaching/research experience post-PhD.
• Capacity for PhD supervision.
• Strong publications record.
• Proven success with research funding.
• Innovative teaching skills and pedagogy knowledge.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Fluency in English.

Additional Expectations for Senior Ranks

• Supervised PhD students to completion.
• Significant academic publications.
• Multiple external grant awards.
• Proven research impact and industry collaborations.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience (All Ranks)

• International journal publications.
• PhD supervision experience.
• Record of successful research funding.
• Professional memberships (e.g., BCS, IET, ACM, IEE, HEA).
• Experience in international higher education.
