Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Health Policy and System Research

Position Overview

The Duke Kunshan University seeks to hire a full-time doctoral research fellow or research assistant professor to work at an innovative Global Health Research Center established by Duke Kunshan University in Kunshan, China. The Global Health Research Center was established in 2013 and co-founded by Duke Kunshan University and the Duke Global Health Institute. The mission is to improve health and promote health equity in China and globally. Through conducting high-quality research, the Center aims to provide policy recommendations, explore innovative solutions to national and global health challenges, and support national goals set by policies such as Healthy China 2030. It also contributes to achieving the United Nations' health-related Sustainable Development Goals, including facilitating universal health coverage, strengthening health systems, and reducing the risk of communicable and non-communicable diseases.

Duke Kunshan University is a partnership of Duke University, Wuhan University, and the Municipality of Kunshan, China. The campus is located 37 miles west of Shanghai in Kunshan, which is connected to Shanghai via a 15-minute high-speed train. Essential Duties

• This is a two-year position, with possibility of extension depending on funding availability.
• Work on a Gates-funded project on vaccine delivery in China and other health policy and system projects.
• Conduct high-quality research on topics such as vaccine financing and coverage, overuse of health resources for cancer diagnosis and treatment in China.
• Analyze large and complicated datasets using STATA, SAS, R, or other statistical software.
• Develop grant proposals and write manuscripts under the guidance of the supervisor.
• Help organize related research workshops.
• Mentor junior research staff and MSc-GH and UG students working in the program.
• Support faculty in teaching for the Global Health program.
• Perform any other research-related tasks required by the supervisor.
• University employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows.

Required Qualifications

• Strong interest and previous experience in global health research, especially health service and system research.
• Proficient in Epidata and R, STATA or SAS; strong quantitative data analysis and modeling skills.
• Willing to travel to field sites and conferences as needed.
• Skills and knowledge in qualitative research methods preferred.
• Skills and knowledge in implementation research preferred.
• Good command of spoken and written English; ability to communicate in Chinese is preferred.

Education

PhD in health economics, health policy, biostatistics, epidemiology, preventive medicine, global health, or other related fields.

Years of Related Working Experience

Excellent fresh graduates or candidates with relevant working experience are considered.
