Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Principal Investigator: Prof Cong Cao)

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), the first Sino-foreign university in China, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in Business Administration under the leadership of Professor Cong Cao.

Your Responsibilities

• Formulate and articulate research objectives and develop proposals for individual and collaborative research projects.
• Analyze data, interpret results, evaluate scholarly texts, and contribute novel insights while working collaboratively to meet project deadlines.
• Write and disseminate research through publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
• Assist in writing grant proposals and identifying funding opportunities.
• Build internal and external networks for collaboration and funding opportunities.

About You

• PhD obtained within the last 3 years in Technology and Innovation or related areas.
• Excellent communication skills in English (Chinese proficiency is a plus).
• High analytical ability and familiarity with applying research techniques and methodologies.
• Ability to assess and organize resources and collaborate effectively.
• Some hands-on experience with the relevant specialist research skills is preferred.

About the Project

The project investigates nanotechnology innovation at NanoPolis in Suzhou, focusing on how companies navigate innovation challenges. Two-thirds of the fellow’s time will be dedicated to developing teaching cases—at least one per year—highlighting innovation strategies, university-industry collaboration, and ecosystem dynamics.

The role will be based at the Nottingham Case Innovation Centre (NCIC), under the Nottingham University Business School China (NUBS China).

Remuneration and Benefits

• Initial 2-year fixed-term contract with 2-month probation.
• Minimum annual salary: RMB 267,233 with competitive benefits.
• Eligibility to apply for RMB 50,000 in research funding after project commencement.
