Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Principal Investigator: Prof Sunghan Ryu)

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in Business Administration within Professor Sunghan Ryu’s research team. This role is part of UNNC’s newly established Postdoctoral Research Station in Business Administration.

Your Responsibilities

• Formulate and articulate research objectives and develop proposals for individual and collaborative projects.
• Analyze data, interpret findings, evaluate academic texts, and contribute innovative insights, all while meeting project timelines.
• Write research papers for publication and present findings at national and international conferences.
• Identify opportunities and assist in drafting grant applications.
• Build internal and external networks to foster collaborations and funding opportunities.

About You

• PhD obtained within the last 3 years in Management, Information Systems, Organizational Behavior, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or Economics.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Chinese is a plus.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and synthesize complex data.
• Experience in applying research techniques and methodologies creatively.
• Organizational ability to manage resources and collaborate across teams.
• Some practical experience in relevant specialist techniques is desirable.

About the Project

This research explores how generative AI (Gen AI) tools impact entrepreneurial creativity and innovation. The project examines Gen AI’s role in early-stage entrepreneurship—specifically its influence on opportunity discovery, ideation, and business model development—and how it affects creative self-efficacy and originality. The project will advance theoretical understanding of human-AI collaborative creativity and offer practical guidance for entrepreneurs, AI tool developers, and policymakers.

Research Team

• Prof. Sunghan Ryu: Professor in Management Science and Analytics, expert in digital innovation and entrepreneurship, and Series Editor for SAGE Business Cases.
• Dr. Huimin Song: Professor of Practice in Accounting and Director of the Nottingham Case Innovation Center, with extensive experience in investment banking and M&A.

Remuneration and Benefits

• Two-year fixed-term contract with a two-month probation period.
• Minimum annual salary of RMB 267,233 with competitive benefits.
• Eligibility to apply for RMB 50,000 in research funding after commencing the position.
