Intern for Center for Teaching and Learning

Position Overview

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) will be responsible to assist faculty members in teaching, by advising innovative teaching strategies, use of educational technologies, and action research in the field of education. CTL intern will be exposed to the field of educational development and then approach higher education from the teaching & learning perspective. As part of the routine work, he or she will have chances to share learner perspectives, study literature about active learning, get familiar with the technologies to enhance teaching, and develop communication skills with professors and students.

Reports to

Senior Educational Consultant II for the Center for Teaching and Learning

Essential Duties

• Assist faculty lunch discussions and other CTL events (i.e., workshops, institutional-wide showcase) on teaching, learning, and instructional technology.
• Contribute to CTL communications, such as the webpage, WeChat posts, and newsletters.
• Interview faculty members to learn and write about their teaching strategies.
• Research trends and the competitive landscape of innovative teaching and learning in higher education in China and around the world.
• Facilitate student focus groups or panels to identify learner needs or learning gaps.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a degree program; Bachelor degree, and Master degree is preferred.
• Interpersonal and effective English written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage expectations and explain technical detail.
• Methodical, investigative and inquisitive mind.
• Ability to contribute to a team effort.
• Logical approach to problem solving.
• Ability to learn and apply new skills and techniques.
