Principal Research Scientist in Integrated Systems

Position Overview

The Digital Innovation Research Center (DIRC) at Duke Kunshan University (DKU) is seeking applicants with expertise in designing integrated systems to engage in research collaboration among DKU, top universities and major industrial companies. A successful candidate will work with a group of faculty/staff members to pursue emerging research topics/areas related to integrated systems, as well as providing consultation and assistance to external collaborators for technology transfer and commercialization.

Reports to

Prof. Xin Li, Professor of Electronical and Computer Engineering

Essential Duties

• Design hardware and software systems for emerging applications.
• Engage with external collaborators for technology transfer and commercialization.
• Document research ideas, implementation details, etc.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with research scientists, business users, project managers and other engineers.
• Interact with relevant collaborators both internally and externally.
• Any other research-related tasks required by the team leader.
• Work toward achieving assigned annual objectives and KPIs, demonstrating accountability for performance and results.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• University employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows in size and complexity in its programs.

Required Qualifications

• PhD degree in electrical and computer engineering, or related fields.
• 12+ years of working experience.
• Knowledge of hardware/software implementation and best practices for product development life cycle.
• Willing to make short domestic and international trips to attend conferences and workshops or visit academic and industrial collaborators.
• Hard working, fast learning, team building, and attention to details.
• Thrive working in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Education

PhD degree in electrical and computer engineering, or related fields.
