The University of Nottingham Ningbo China’s School of Computer Science is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow in Computer Science (outsourced).
About the Role
In this position, you will play a key role in driving high-impact research, developing innovative objectives, and formulating proposals within cutting-edge fields, including Computer Vision, Digital Healthcare, AI Optimization, and Software Testing. You will have the opportunity to use your initiative and creativity to expand your research portfolio, co-supervise talented research students, write proposals for external funding (particularly provincial and national NSF grants for young researchers), and publish work in top-tier international venues.
Key Responsibilities
- Research & Experimentation (40%): Plan and execute research using recognized methodologies; analyze data, implement experiments, interpret results, and generate novel insights in AI, computer vision, digital health, or software testing.
- Publication & Dissemination (20%): Lead the writing of high-quality papers for top-tier journals and conferences, and present findings at national and international venues.
- Grant & Proposal Writing (10%): Identify funding opportunities and assist in preparing competitive grant applications for internal and external bodies.
- Supervision & Mentorship (10%): Co-supervise Master’s and PhD projects, and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate research work and placements.
- Collaboration & Networking (10%): Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners, build research networks, and coordinate shared projects.
- Operations & Development (10%): Manage research resources and labs, resolve research challenges, participate in staff development, and support operational duties.
About You
Education & Qualifications
- A PhD degree in Computer Science or a related area awarded within the last three years, or proof of successful completion of a PhD.
- Eligibility to apply for provincial and national NSF grants for young researchers.
Publication Record
- Proven experience as first author publishing in top-tier journals or conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, AAAI, MICCAI, ICLR, TMI, MedIA, TMM, TCSVT, and others.
Skills & Experience
- Practical experience applying research methodologies, models, and techniques relevant to the role.
- High analytical capability to interpret complex data, conduct experiments, and critically evaluate research texts.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
- Strong collaborative and relationship-building skills across internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable Requirements
- Demonstrated success in securing external research grant funding.
- Ability to foster a vibrant research culture and mentor and inspire learning in others.
