ABOUT College of Industry-Entrepreneurs (CIE)

The College of Industry-Entrepreneurs (CIE) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is an interdisciplinary platform and a flagship model of XJTLU’s 3.0 educational philosophy, which redefines the future of higher education. As a core implementation of Syntegrative Education (SE) framework, CIE bridges academia, industry, and society to cultivate future-ready talent and drive innovation. Funded by community and industry contributions, it operates with a hybrid governance model combining academic rigor and business efficiency.

Aligns with XJTLU 3.0’s emphasis on integrating education, industry, and societal needs, CIE focuses on three core pillars: the development of the X-Eco Mall, the empowerment of Industry-Entrepreneurs, and the promotion of strategic transformation and technological advancement. Through deep collaboration with industry partners, CIE co-designs solutions and talent development programmes that address real-world challenges. The college emphasizes cross-disciplinary innovation, practice-oriented learning, and personalized education pathways.

CIE offers a diverse range of academic programmes tailored to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global landscape. These include three master’s pathways: Enterprise Governance, Innovation and Succession; Strategic Human Resources Management; and Smart Ageing and Health Management. For those pursuing advanced research, CIE provides a PhD in Business, with concentrations in areas such as Industrial Innovation Ecosystems, Human-AI Collaboration and Ecosystem Management, Healthcare Ecosystems, and Strategic Human Resource Management and Talent Systems. The college also offers a PhD in Education, focusing on topics such as Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education, HeXie Education, and Educational Innovation Ecosystems. Currently, CIE is home to over 10 PhD students and a team of about 30 faculty members, all of whom are actively engaged in cutting-edge research, teaching, and industry collaboration. ABOUT HeXie Management Research Centre (HeXie Academy)

The HeXie Academy is a research and innovation platform focused on the application of HeXie Management Theory, recognized as one of China’s Top Ten Original Theories in Philosophy and Social Sciences in 2025. With a vision of drive high-quality social and industrial development, the HeXie Academy supports original research, interdisciplinary training, and education innovation. Its key research areas include digital and intelligent ecosystems, future social governance, and sustainable development, addressing pressing topics such as aging society and ESG strategy. As a strategic enhancement to undergraduate education, the HeXie Academy also contributes to university-wide teaching by participating in the delivery of the Entrepreneurial Education Module (EEM) for Year2 students, enriching students’ learning with interdisciplinary and real-world perspectives. By leveraging the principles of HeXie Management, the HeXie Academy facilitates collaboration across disciplines and sectors, offering innovative solutions and thought leadership that contribute to the strategic transformation of industries and the sustainable progress of society.

Job Description

The Project Manager is a key role responsible for driving the acquisition, development, and delivery of externally funded industry projects and customised training programmes within CIE and HeXie Academy. This position requires a highly connected, socially adept, and results-driven professional who can build and sustain strong partnerships across sectors, lead cross-functional teams with both authority and approachability, and generate tangible revenue through project implementation. The Project Manager will play a central role in translating institutional strengths into market-facing solutions that advance industry engagement and sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Business Development & Revenue Generation
• Identify, assess, and pursue new business opportunities aligned with the strategic priorities of CIE and HeXie Academy, with a clear focus on generating project-based income.
• Lead the development of high-quality proposals, bids, and training programme designs in collaboration with academic and operational teams.
• Achieve revenue targets through the successful acquisition and delivery of industry projects, training programmes, and consultancy services.
2. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Management
• Build and maintain a broad network of relationships with industry leaders, government agencies, research institutions, and professional associations.
• Serve as a trusted liaison between external partners and internal teams, ensuring alignment of needs, capabilities, and expectations.
• Represent CIE and HeXie Academy at high-level events, forums, and meetings to enhance institutional visibility and foster collaboration.
3. Project Leadership & Delivery
• Manage the full lifecycle of industry projects and training programmes, from opportunity identification and contract negotiation to execution, monitoring, and closure.
• Lead cross-functional teams with a balance of strategic direction and hands-on support, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
• Ensure all deliverables meet institutional standards and client expectations, incorporating feedback for continuous improvement.
4. Team Management & Development
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of project specialists, providing guidance, performance oversight, and professional development support.
• Delegate responsibilities effectively, ensuring team members are aligned with project goals and organisational priorities.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture that encourages initiative, accountability, and continuous improvement.
5. Strategic Contribution & Organisational Development
• Contribute to the strategic planning and operational development of CIE and HeXie Academy, particularly in areas related to industry engagement and XJTLU X-Eco Mall building.
• Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture that supports innovation, responsiveness, and impact.
• Undertake business travel and other tasks as assigned by management.

Essential Qualifications

1. Master’s degree or above, preferably in Marketing, Business Analytics, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
2. Minimum of five years of full-time experience in project management, business development, or industry engagement, preferably within higher education, research institutions, or professional services.
3. Demonstrated success in securing and delivering externally funded projects or training programmes with measurable revenue outcomes.
4. Exceptional bilingual communication skills (Chinese and English), with proven ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
5. Strong leadership capabilities combined with a collaborative, approachable style; ability to inspire trust, motivate teams, and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
6. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, lead cross-functional initiatives, and deliver results in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Extensive social network and experience in building partnerships across industry, government, and academia.
2. Experience in designing and delivering executive education, corporate training, or consultancy services.
3. Strong service orientation and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to identify and act on emerging opportunities.
4. Cross-cultural or international work experience, with demonstrated adaptability in diverse organisational settings.
5. Familiarity with innovation ecosystems, human-AI collaboration, or AI-related fields is an advantage.
