Role Overview
The School Manager oversees and leads administrative services in the School and advises the Dean in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the School’s mission and strategy. As part of the professional services management team in the University, the School Manager also liaises with other offices and units on campus to ensure that services are delivered in an integrated and cooperative manner. The School Manager reports to the Dean of the School. He/she will be a member of the School Management Team.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
1. Leadership, Team Management
- Accountable for the leadership, performance, and development of the School's Professional Services (PS) team.
- Accountable for workload planning, allocation, and office cover to ensure continuous service delivery.
- Responsible for establishing annual training and development plans for the PS team.
- Responsible for building strong collaborative relationships within the School and across the University's professional services.
2. Academic Administration & Quality Assurance
- Accountable for overseeing the PS team’s support for learning, teaching, and research activities.
- Responsible for leading the School’s contribution to internal and external Quality Assurance processes, including program reviews and accreditation.
- Accountable for coordinating operational delivery of School research funds and academic projects.
3. Operations, Finance, & Facilities
- Accountable for the effective monitoring and management of the school budgets and financial procedures.
- Responsible for building management, coordinating with the Campus Management Office on maintenance, space, and equipment.
- Responsible for procurement and maintenance of office furniture and equipment.
4. Communication, Service & Events
- Accountable for being a primary point of contact for staff, students, and visitors to the School.
- Responsible for managing and coordinating school-related events, conferences, and visits.
- Accountable for ensuring the delivery of high-quality student and staff services, including reception and enquiry management.
- Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of School web pages.
Qualification and Experience Requirement
- Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in administration and management.
- Proven experience in team leadership and line management.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and working with senior management.
- Experience in dealing with external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the UK higher education system and its quality assurance frameworks.
- Sound awareness of working in a culturally diverse, international environment.
