Position Overview

Duke Kunshan University (DKU) is a Sino-US Joint Venture University approved by the Ministry of Education and co-founded by Duke University, Wuhan University and Kunshan City Government. DKU is a non-profit public welfare social organization with independent legal status. The campus is located in Kunshan Yangcheng Lake Science Park, about 30km from Shanghai. DKU offers a series of graduate degree programs and launched its undergraduate degree program in 2018. Our campus provides an innovative, interdisciplinary undergraduate liberal arts experience to a highly selective student body that will number 2000 students and 150+ faculty. Currently, the student body is represented by over 60 countries.  

DNAS (Division of Natural and Applied Sciences) is seeking applicants for one intern position to support the divisional lab routine tasks, annual asset inventory check, the maintenance of our sharing equipment booking system and divisional website.

Reports to

Lab Coordinator of the Division of Natural and Applied Sciences, with a dotted report line to the Instructor for Undergraduate Data and Computation Science Courses

Essential Duties

  1. Assist with daily laboratory management, support laboratory safety training, and design training certificates.
  2. Assist the division in the annual inventory of fixed assets (including office equipment, laboratory equipment, furniture, etc.), including asset tag verification, information recording, data sorting, and entry.
  3. Ensure timely maintenance of the division's website and update relevant social media content, including editing news, processing photos and videos, promoting academic events, maintaining education opportunity pages and regularly maintain information on the lab equipment booking system.
  4. Perform additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned based on organizational and programmatic needs or the intern's individual interests.

Required Qualifications

  1. Undergraduate or graduate student at any level, available for full-time internship for a minimum of 3 months; candidates able to intern for 6 months or more are preferred.
  2. Detail-oriented, patient, responsible, safety-conscious, and adheres to regulations; demonstrates a proactive work attitude and is capable of handling repetitive tasks seriously.
  3. Candidates with a basic understanding of laboratory environments, fundamental experimental equipment, or safety protocols is preferred.
  4. Proficient in oral and written English, with familiarity in reading and editing English content.
  5. Willingness to learn and work in a team-based environment.
