Roles & Responsibilities:
his position supports the daily operation, maintenance and service development of the Mass Spectrometry and Chromatography Platform. The role will provide high-quality analytical testing, user training, data interpretation and method-development support for teaching, research, industry collaboration and external service needs.
Job Responsibilities
1. Core Responsibility: Full-lifecycle Instrument Operation & Maintenance
o Support the full-lifecycle operation and routine maintenance of mass spectrometry, chromatography and supporting equipment, including daily operation, periodic maintenance, calibration and tuning, first-line troubleshooting and replacement of simple consumable parts.
o Coordinate with instrument vendors for advanced troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and repair services when required.
o Manage instrument booking and scheduling, streamline operation workflows; draft and revise instrument SOPs, maintenance, calibration and usage records.
o Conduct regular equipment inspections, forecast consumable usage and carry out preventive maintenance proactively to minimize instrument failures.
2. Service Responsibility: Sample Testing, Data Analysis & User Training
o Provide testing and spectrum interpretation services for internal and external users, and offer practical guidance on sample pretreatment and parameter optimization.
o Deliver regular training covering instrument operation, data processing, method optimization and lab safety; grant independent access to users who pass assessments.
3. Development Responsibility: Support Method Development & Technical Improvement
o Assist in developing, optimizing and validating analytical methods based on user experimental demands, covering LC-MS, GC-MS, HRMS and in-situ analysis.
o Summarize typical lab cases to form standardized operation guidelines.
o Keep up with cutting-edge mass spectrometry and chromatography technologies, implement applicable optimization solutions to improve instrument efficiency and service quality.
4. Lab Administration Responsibility: Daily Lab Operation & Safety
o Implement 7S standards, support lab layout adjustment; conduct routine safety inspections and assist in handling potential hazards.
o Manage instrument accessories and lab consumables to ensure sufficient supply and complete traceable records.
o Support lab manager to refine existing workflows and report operational bottlenecks.
o Learn basic operation of other instruments and complete other ad-hoc tasks assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
1. Essential Criteria
a.Education: Master’s degree or above in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, Pharmacy, Biology, Environmental Science or related disciplines.
b.Professional Skills: Possess solid theoretical knowledge of analytical chemistry with a good grasp of mass spectrometry and chromatography principles and applications; independently operate, tune and maintain mainstream instruments including Waters, Agilent, Thermo Fisher and Shimadzu; interpret mass spectra proficiently and be proficient in analytical software, such as MassLynx, Xcalibur and MestReNova.
2. Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on independent experience in the operation, maintenance and management of mass spectrometry and chromatography instruments.
a.Soft Skills: Clear logical thinking, strong problem-solving capabilities and execution, as well as effective cross-department communication; meticulous, responsible, service-oriented and team-spirited, with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
b. Language: Able to work in an English-speaking environment; capable of bilingual Chinese-English technical communication related to instruments; able to fully comprehend English instrument manuals, industry standards and professional technical documents.
3. Preferred Criteria
a.Practical experience in external sample testing, analytical method development and validation projects.
b.Experience in long-term operation and overall management of multiple large analytical instruments.
c.Experience drafting instrument SOPs and building standardized equipment file management systems.
