Role Overview

The postholder will support the School’s marketing, communications, brand development, event planning and coordination, and administrative operations. Key responsibilities include developing high-quality bilingual content, maintaining communication channels and promotional materials, supporting publicity campaigns, and promoting the School’s academic programmes, research achievements, student experience, partnerships and other strategic initiatives. The postholder will also contribute creative ideas and innovative approaches to marketing campaigns, brand-building initiatives and audience engagement activities, helping to strengthen the School’s profile, visibility and reputation.

Working collaboratively with academic and professional services colleagues, the University Marketing and Communications (UMC) team, and other internal and external stakeholders, the postholder will help conceptualize, plan, coordinate and deliver marketing, promotion, recruitment and outreach activities, including open days, information sessions, external visits and School-wide events. The role will support the end-to-end management of events, from initial concept development and planning through to implementation, on-site coordination and post-event evaluation. The postholder will also provide administrative and operational support for relevant academic processes and wider School priorities.

The successful candidate will be an effective bilingual communicator with strong creative thinking, organizational, project coordination and stakeholder management skills, as well as the flexibility to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic international higher education environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Marketing, Communications and Brand Promotion

  • Support the development and delivery of marketing, communications and brand-building plans that align with the School’s strategic priorities and strengthen its profile and reputation.
  • Promote events through appropriate School and University communication channels to increase awareness, participation and engagement.
  • Develop audience-focused approaches and explore innovative ways to communicate the School’s distinctive strengths, academic offering and value proposition.
  • Develop, edit, proofread and translate high-quality bilingual content for websites, social media, newsletters, events and promotional materials.
  • Identify and promote compelling stories relating to academic programmes, research achievements, student experience, partnerships and School activities.
  • Maintain consistent brand messaging, visual presentation and campaign narratives across the School’s communication channels and marketing materials, ensuring that content is accurate, timely and aligned with University brand guidelines.
  • Coordinate the collection of information, images, videos and other content from academic staff, students and relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaise with UMC and other University teams to support integrated campaigns, media opportunities and wider promotional activities.
  • Monitor communication and campaign performance, audience engagement and stakeholder feedback, making recommendations for continuous improvement.

2. Events, Recruitment and Outreach

  • Develop and deliver creative concepts and proposals for recruitment, outreach and stakeholder engagement activities that align with the School’s objectives, target audiences and brand positioning.
  • Plan and coordinate the full event lifecycle, including objectives, formats, timelines, resources, budgets, communications, logistics, delivery and evaluation.
  • Coordinate open days, information sessions, external visits, student engagement activities and other School events.
  • Prepare event schedules, invitations, presentations, promotional materials, briefing documents and participant information.
  • Liaise with internal teams, external partners, speakers, students and suppliers, coordinating venues, facilities, equipment, catering, transportation and guest arrangements to ensure effective event delivery.
  • Manage event resources and expenditure in accordance with approved budgets and University procedures.
  • Provide on-site coordination and support, including registration, guest reception, speaker support and logistical arrangements.
  • Collect and analyse feedback, evaluate event outcomes, and prepare post-event records or reports with recommendations for future improvement.

3. General Administrative and Operational Support

  • Provide administrative and operational support for relevant academic processes, School-wide activities and day-to-day operations.
  • Support cross-functional administrative processes and contribute to the efficient operation of the School.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across different functional areas to respond to School priorities and operational needs.
  • Undertake other administrative and coordination duties as assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, business administration, English, media or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in marketing, communications, event coordination, stakeholder engagement or administration.
  • Experience in an international higher education environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience in cross-functional coordination and supporting a range of administrative processes is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the UK higher education system is preferred.

Required Competencies and Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with content management systems, social media platforms or basic design tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities effectively, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with academic and professional services colleagues, and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team, exercise sound judgement, and take a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Responsible, service-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Flexible and willing to support a diverse range of administrative and coordination tasks.
