Position Overview

The Global Health Research Center is seeking a Research Fellow to work on a funded research project focused on climate resilience and healthy aging. The project aims to identify population subgroups that are particularly vulnerable to climate-related risks, understand how family and community support systems shape people’s capacity to respond and adapt, and generate practical recommendations for equitable climate adaptation and healthy aging. The initial appointment is for one year and may be renewed, subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of continued funding.

Reports to

Prof. Chenkai Wu, Associate Professor of Global Health

Essential Duties

  • Conduct literature reviews on climate change, climate resilience, healthy aging, and family and community support systems.
  • Manage and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Conduct qualitative data analysis, including coding, thematic analysis, and synthesis of findings.
  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, reports, conference presentations, and other project outputs.
  • Assist with the planning and organization of workshops, research meetings, and related project activities.
  • Collaborate with project investigators, students, and external partners.
  • Undertake other research-related tasks as required by the supervisor.
  • Work toward achieving assigned annual objectives and KPIs, demonstrating accountability for performance and results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A master’s degree is preferred in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, demography, sociology, economics, or a related field.
  • Strong quantitative data management and analysis skills; proficiency in Stata, SAS, R, or comparable software is preferred.
  • Experience with population-based data is an advantage.
  • Experience with qualitative research methods, or a strong willingness to develop qualitative skills.
  • Strong English writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in climate change, global health, healthy aging, or health equity.
  • Interest in pursuing a doctoral degree in the future.
